Kempton Park FC bounces back with great 3-0 victory against Olympia

The second half was a pure delight of attacking, composed and dominating football from Kempton Park FC.

After suffering a last minute heartbreak in defeat against Robertsham in the ILFA Super League last week, Kempton Park Football Club’s first team put the wheels firmly back on the cart with a magnificent 3-0 over Olympia at the Italian Club on Saturday.

Despite having a threadbare squad, with the side ravaged by injuries and suspensions, the players stood up and were counted in a display that left nobody in doubt as to the strength of this team.

Kempton were in front on six minutes when an exquisite passing move down the right led to Mbuso Thango twisting around Kyle Nowicki and firing a blistering shot, which hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced out to Paballo Ngcobi, who killed the ball with a perfect first touch before driving it high into the net.

Kempton dominated possession throughout the half with the defence having little to do.

The second half was a pure delight of attacking, composed and dominating football from Kempton. Zivai Verenga finally got his eye in, latching onto a flicked ball. The front man glided beyond a defender and slipped the ball beyond the keeper and in off the post to double Kempton’s tally and lead.

With 15 minutes to go, Verenga ran from deep to collect a KG Ramoghoase pass and gently lobbed the ball over the onrushing goalie for his 23rd of the season.

The rest of the game was a procession with Kempton controlling the ball and the game.

A fine win and a classic performance that had all spectators and coach John Mann purring with appreciation.

Kempton will face Germiston at Delville on Saturday to complete the first round of games.

Kempton’s ILFA reserves league side finally managed a win after good performances in recent weeks that just lacked that killer blow.

Up against a very ordinary Olympia side, Kempton created chances but were unable to take advantage during the first half. Ten minutes into the second half, the deadlock was broken when Ngema knocked a great ball down the left to Skillo Ditshego who beat a man, passed out wide and was side-footed home from close range by Mack Botopela.

A few scares, and a host of opportunities later, the Kempton reserves deservedly took victory.

In the Easterns Division 1 League. KPFC’s third side were awarded a 2-0 walk over when opponents Waarwasjy (yes really!) failed to arrive. They remain third in their league.

In the Easterns Division 3 League, Kempton overcame local rivals Bonaero Park with a 4-2 win in an entertaining game on Saturday. They remain in third spot behind Alberton and Benoni Northerns.

Two goals from Phil Baird, and one each from Dimitri Koukkouzellis and Warren Gardner, secured the win.
