MX bikes and quads turn up the dust at Erora track
Young and old gathered on Saturday to watch the skilful riders strut their stuff.
Speed enthusiasts were treated to a dirt bike spectacular on Saturday, as the East Rand Off-Road Association (ERORA) hosted a flat track challenge for both MX bikes and quads at its grounds on the P91.
Young and old gathered to watch the skilful riders on the tracks from as early as 9am. Lively music and delicious food made for a day of fun for the entire family.
It was an especially good day for Brendan Rusch, who stayed true to his surname and took first place in the MX 1 section with a score of 72. Hard on his heels was James Kok with a score of 69, and Sean Gouws took third place with 58.

Of the ladies’ division, Serranne Meyer was first with her score of 75, Shelley Compaan placed second with 66, and Lisa Steyn was third with 40.
In the MX2 section, Sven Pretorius was the one to beat, and he took first place with a score of 75. Keegan Arnold came second with 66, and MornĂ© Fullard’s 59 landed him third place.
Piere Coetzer was the champion in the Master’s category, also with a score of 75. In second place was Derek Robertson with 66 and Warren Seddon with 60.
In the veteran’s category, Kyle de Bruin took first place, Craig Maynier was second and Pieter Roos was third.
Also participating was the class 50cc juniors, of which Maxwell Fourie walked away as the winner with a score of 75. Keagan Roos with his score of 66 was second, and Kyke van Niekerk was third with 59.
Ashton Owen was the senior winner of this division, with Ivana Venter in second place and Calib van der Westhuizen in third place.
In the class 65cc section, Damien Venter won, and Ashton Owen came second. Keenan Koops was the winner of the 85cc division, while Trichtan Lansdell won the class 125cc section, with Dylan Jonker in second place.
Another exciting addition to the day was quad bike racing, which saw Bryan Herbst take first place, Bevan Chandler second place, and CD Goosen third. Arthur Muirhead was named the Quads Sportsman of the day.
