Powerico Winter Games to boost local businesses
Powerico Winter Games to boost local businesses.

On June 29, 32 teams will lock horns as they seek to be crowned champions of the third edition of the Powerico Winter Games.
Founder of the tournament Power Makhura said this year the teams will be fighting for a massive first prize.
Teams from Tembisa and teams outside of Tembisa are invited to join the tournament which is among the biggest soccer tournaments staged in Tembisa.
“During the Powerico Winter Games, all South African leagues are closed, so it allows all players to participate.
“Last year we had teams come from as far as Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Alexandra.
“We want to thank everyone who supported the tournament thus far.
“We encourage teams to quickly sign up because we have limited spaces left.
“Many teams from last year’s Powerico Winter Games have come back to take part again,” Makhura said.
He invites local entrepreneurs who want to sell at the games to come forward and register for a stall.
“We are inviting scouts from the National First Division (NFD), the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and coaches from professional sides to come and find talent in Tembisa.
“We pride ourselves on the growth the Powerico Winter Games enjoys through the community’s support,” said Makhura.
He appeals to people who have ideas for improving the games to come forward as the games belong to the whole Tembisa community.
Makhura said through the games they are striving to fight crimes such as the abuse of children and women and substance abuse by keeping the youth off the streets. They have invited motivational speakers to talk to supporters at this year’s tournament.
“We can have such talks during the intervals of the soccer games, instead of just hosting games.
“Those who have problems can therefore get the help they need.
“The community must bring their different ideas so that the Powerico Winter Games can grow,” Power said.
He also thanked Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi for showing his undying support to the Powerico Winter Games.
“He has helped us a lot and made sure that the tournament grows.”
