Six medals and two trophies for Kempton Park’s sensei
Amy Prinsloo, who has a third Dan black belt, competed in the annual Shotokan Karate South Africa National Championships in Cape Town in May and received six medals and two trophies.
Leading by example is often far much easier said than done but The Dojo Kempton Park’s Sensei Amy Prinsloo made it look much easier to do.
Prinsloo, who has a third Dan black belt, competed in the annual Shotokan Karate South Africa National Championships in Cape Town in May and received six medals and two trophies.
“Prinsloo came home with gold medals in female unison kata, female individual kata, best senior female kata and best overall senior female karateka. She received a silver medal for female kumite and a bronze for female Shotokan,” said senior instructor at The Dojo Kempton Park, Sensei Janien Potgieter.
Potgieter also said Prinsloo was awarded trophies for best senior female kata and best overall senior female karateka.
“Sensei Prinsloo is a hardworking and dedicated karateka who also assists me with instructing at the dojo. She started karate at the age of 13 and I immediately saw her natural talent,” said Potgieter.
Other members from the local club who competed in the championship were sensei Potgieter and Winrie Kruger.
