Premier Soccer League’s Golden Arrows striker Lerato Lamola has vowed to continue hosting more charity soccer games in and around Tembisa.
Lamola has over the years spent his money and time contributing to charitable deeds around the country, especially in deep rural areas.
“As you can see, I was in the area to be part of the soccer tournament that I organised for local amateur teams. And I was very happy with the manner the people of Tembisa received and took ownership of the games. It was this display by the locals that made me take a decision on the spot that I am coming back for more,” he said.
“My intention is to create an annual amateur soccer tournament that will include all local soccer teams and if possible include female teams as well. I am not saying I have all the muscles to host such a festival but I am certain that with the help of local businesses we would be able to pull it off,” continued Lamola.
This gifted striker was speaking to this newspaper during the games he had hosted to raise money to buy sanitary towels and school uniforms for school girls and boys in the area.
“This is my way of ploughing back and I don’t do it to be seen. I do it because I believe in sharing and I believe in lending a helping hand now and again,” he said.
Lamola runs so many social projects aimed at uplifting local communities while at the same time giving future soccer stars a chance to shine.
