New sport confederation on the cards
The areas that still need to be formalised are Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan, Daveyton, Edenvale, Etwatwa, Nigel, Kempton Park, Tembisa 1, and Tembisa 2
The Ekurhuleni Sport Confederation is busy formalising the establishment of the Ekurhuleni District Sport Confederations.
Processes that would eventually lead up to the elective conference of the envisaged District Sport Confederation have already begun.
The current secretary of the Ekurhuleni Sport Confederation, Benny Mphahlele, said: “We are busy with a campaign to form and revive the local and regional sport confederations within Ekurhuleni, where ultimately the Ekurhuleni District Sport Confederation will have its elective conference in August or September 2019. And so, we would like to make a call to the 20 local sport confederations, popularly known as the customer care centres (CCCs) and regional sport confederations (A, B, C, D, E and F), to get ready for the revival and formalisation on July 13 and 27 respectively.”
The Ekurhuleni Sport Confederation is a macro-body responsible for coordination and monitoring of the various sport federations in Ekurhuleni.
“It is our humble request that the areas that have not been formed get themselves together and adopt draft constitutions and then elect their local sport confederation executive committees,” continued Mphahlele.
The areas that still need to be formalised are Boksburg, Benoni, Brakpan, Daveyton, Edenvale, Etwatwa, Nigel, Kempton Park, Tembisa 1, and Tembisa 2.
Mphahlele said the other 10 local sport confederations have already been formed, and are ready and waiting for the above areas to form so they could come together to form the Regional Sport Confederations.
“We, therefore, appeal to all sporting codes and clubs in the above areas to come forward and assist this campaign to be a success,” he concluded.
A follow-up meeting will be held again next Saturday at a venue which is still to be confirmed.
