Limpopo FC loses against Ximhungwe

“The tournament keeps them busy and they stay out of trouble."

Limpopo FC lost 5-4 to Ximhungwe after a penalty shoot-out at the Mvelaphande ground on March 15 during the Top A tournament.

Event organiser Christopher Mashimbye said the Top A tournament keeps the youth from roaming the streets.

“I started a development programmes which focuses on boys between the ages 10 and 22 whereby I train them every week after school. I am trying by all means to keep them busy and stay off the streets,” said Mashimbye.

“The tournament keeps them busy and they stay out of trouble. The plan is to groom them from a young age so they can get used to playing soccer,” added Mashimbye.

The Limpopo FC and Ximhungwe teams played the first and second half without any team scoring, which led to penalties. Ximhungwe won by 5-4.

Ximhungwe coach Pleasure Zitha said: “The team played well and I am proud. I had hoped we would score in the first half, but all in all I am happy that my team won through penalties.”

Ximhungwe scored their last penalty, hoping to walk away as the number one team.

Limpopo FC assistant coach Kulani Maluleka: “I am sad that we lost, but we played a good game. My players did well, but we lost focus with the last penalty.”
