The Avion Park Cricket Club recently showcased an impressive series of youth matches across various age groups, delivering thrilling performances and some nail-biting moments.

Avion U8 in the Impala League faced Old Bens and Avion won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 121/5 in 20 overs.

Old Bens responded with 42 all out in 18 overs, giving Avion a dominant victory by 79 runs.

Star performers for the match were Luke Dalton with the bat who scored 27 runs not out.

With the ball Luke Dalton, Joshua Oelofse and Kian Wilken offered stand-out performances.

Next up, Avion’s U8 in the Kingham League played against Kwathema.

In this match, Avion opted to field first.

Kwathema batted and scored 99 for the loss of three in 20 overs, while Avion chased down the target, scoring 100 for the loss of five in 19.3 overs to win by six wickets.

Top contribution for the match was from Lucas Swart with 17 runs and also taking one wicket for just 12 runs.

Avion’s U8 in the Sibali league faced Alberton.

Alberton won the toss and fielded first, with Avion putting up 97 runs in their 20 overs.

Alberton chased successfully, reaching 98 in 15 overs to win by eight wickets.

In the Impala League, Avion’s U10 faced Bedfordview.

Avion won the toss, choosing to bowl first, and Bedfordview scored 106 for the loss of seven in 20 overs.
Avion responded with 111/7 in 16.2 overs, clinching the game by three wickets.

SW Neethling scored a solid 26 runs off 22 balls while Anrich Pienaar bowled two overs, took two wickets and conceded only five runs.

Avion’s U12’s in the Impala League went head-to-head against Geluksdal at Rhino Park.

Geluksdal forfeited the toss due to a late arrival, allowing Avion to bat first and score 121 runs in 20 overs.

Geluksdal followed with 108 runs for the loss of nine in 17.3 overs, giving Avion a 13-run victory.

Notable performers were Jodey Coertse who scored 24 runs and Joshua Du Plooy, delivering an impressive one wicket in one over for only two runs.

Avion U12’s playing in the Impala 2 league played Benoni Northerns.

Avion chose to field first after winning the toss, with Benoni scoring a high 221 for the loss of five in 25 overs.

Avion’s reply fell short at 123 all out in 16.3 overs, with Benoni winning by 98 runs.
