The GPBC Summer League is in full swing and coaches are impressed with the performances their young players are putting in.

The Gauteng Provincial Baseball Council (GPBC) Summer League is in full swing, with the Kempton Park Red Sox Baseball Club hosting teams from U8 to U19 divisions.

Over the weekend, thrilling matchups and competitive spirits were on display as young athletes battled for top honours.

Palm Ridge dominates Cardinals in U15 showdown

One of the standout games in the U15 division saw Palm Ridge take on the Cardinals.

With a stellar batting lineup and sharp pitching, Palm Ridge established an early lead.

Despite their best efforts, the Cardinals struggled to close the gap, ultimately falling 15-3 to a commanding Palm Ridge side.

Dakota triumphs over Badgers in intense U15 clash

Another highlight of the U15 games was the heated battle between Dakota and the Alexandra Badgers.

Both teams started on equal footing, demonstrating solid pitching, fielding, and batting.

However, as the game progressed, Dakota capitalised on errors by the Badgers and gained a slight edge.

In a nail-biting finish, Dakota secured a 15-13 victory.

U10 Red Sox shine against Chinooks

The U10s matchup between the Red Sox and Chinooks left spectators in awe.

Both teams showcased excellent skills, but the Red Sox emerged victorious with a 19-12 win.

Red Sox head coach Kyle Gaddin expressed pride in his team’s performance.

“I love working with children and the energy they bring to the game,” said Gaddin.

“Their growth since the beginning of the season has been impressive, especially considering many are playing baseball for the first time.”

Gaddin highlighted the potential in his young team, adding, “There are future Major League Baseball stars here. If they continue to develop, they have a bright future in the sport.”
