BMX Kempton Park Club hosts club and Gauteng race
Riders pushed hard treating the final moto before the final race as their last opportunity to secure a top spot.
BMX enthusiasts recently gathered at the Kempton Park BMX Club for a day of thrilling action as the club hosted both its club race and a Gauteng race.
Riders of all ages arrived ready to test their skills, cheered on by family, friends and supporters.
The day began with the club race, where riders completed three motos before lining up for the final race.
While the first moto saw some tense starts, many riders found their rhythm, using the subsequent motos to showcase their skills and secure places in the final.

Nine-year-old expert rider Christian Kaschula impressed by taking first place.
“The competition wasn’t too hard or too easy; it was just fun,” he said.
“I’m glad new people are joining, and I enjoyed riding with them. Winning first place in both races feels great, and it’s a bit easier for me because I’ve been racing for a long time.”
As the event progressed, riders pushed harder, treating the final moto before the final race as their last opportunity to secure a top spot.
Despite some riders struggling to keep up, many persevered, determined to finish their races.
Fifteen-year-old novice rider Eli Windvogel was among those who pushed through challenges to claim first place.

“I didn’t expect to win because my opponents were really good, but I’m over the moon,” he said.

In the expert 17–24 category, Jared Goode, who has been riding for about ten years, took first place in both races.
“I’m proud of my performance and surprised I came first, as I thought I might end up second or third because my opponents were strong,” Goode said.
Following the club race, riders prepared for the Gauteng race, with many hoping to walk away with two medals by the end of the day.
While some riders maintained their momentum, others battled fatigue after four motos.
For cruiser rider Leanna Brits, the event was particularly special as she celebrated her 50th birthday by competing.

“It was one of my wishes to ride on my 50th birthday,” she said.
“I achieved a personal best on this track and feel more comfortable on the bike. Being selected to represent Gauteng at the SA Nationals in July was a huge surprise and has motivated me to one day compete at the world championships.”
After the final race, riders were awarded medals for their performances in both the club and Gauteng races.
For some, like elite rider Alex Limberg, victory was familiar yet hard-earned. Limberg took first place in both races despite recent challenges with training due to work commitments.

“My performance was good, even though I struggled a bit with fitness,” he said.
“Every lap is an adventure with seven other riders on the track, and I love the challenge. Winning the races that matter and going home with the overall win is what makes it all worthwhile.”
Kaschula, Limberg and Brits are among 12 riders selected to represent Gauteng BMX at the 2025 SA Cup in Pietermaritzburg this July.
