Kempton Park boxing stars strike gold at national championships
"It was through hard work and dedication throughout the year that these four young boxers could win the South African championships."
The South African Cadet and Junior Championships recently took place in Rustenburg.
The Kempton Park Boxing Club featured two boxers in the cadet age group, 12 years to 14 years, and two boxers in the junior age group, 14 years and 15 years, who represented the Gauteng Boxing Organisation.
Connor In’tveld competed in the 52kg weight division in the cadet age group.

He delivered a masterful performance in all of his fights, easily beating his opponents to capture the gold medal for the second time.
At the end of the championships, he was awarded the trophy for the best boxer of the championships in the cadet age group. This is the second time in the last three years he has won this trophy.
Danny In’tveld competed in the 54kg weight division in the cadet age group. He was equally impressive as his twin brother in winning the gold medal. He also dominated his opponents, and it was no surprise when he was crowned the champion for the third consecutive year.
Wilson Malema competed in the 52kg weight division in the junior age group and was the third boxer from the Kempton Park Club to win a gold medal at the championships.

He impressed in his fights, winning comfortably. At the end of the championships, Malema is also now a two-time South African champion.
Odwa Zamaze, a relatively new boxer, was competing in his first South African Championships in the 54kg junior age group.
Zamaze won a bronze medal, losing in the semi-final to the eventual gold medalist. He, however, showed that he has a lot of potential.
“It was through hard work and dedication throughout the year that these four young boxers won on this level.
“They are an example to all sportspersons that they can reach the highest levels of their sport by training hard, being disciplined and dedicated and listening to their coaches,” said coach Peter Armstrong of the Kempton Park Club. He was also the head coach of the Gauteng team.
New boxers are welcome to join the club by calling Armstrong on 074 646 9095.
Training takes place at the Indoor Sports Centre, Kempton Park, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00.
