Boxer Super Run brings big prize purse to Joburg debut at Marks Park

Dedication and determination of South Africa’s elite athletes is recognized by a prize purse being offered.

Boxer Super Run is celebrating its Joburg debut on November 9 at the Marks Park Sports Club.

South Africa’s most social 5km run will make an impact with an R147 200 prize purse.

“Our goal is to elevate the profile of short-distance road running by recognising and rewarding the country’s top performers,” said the managing director of Stillwater Sports, Michael Meyer.

“Prize money will be awarded across both the elite and open wave categories, with the top eight men and women in the elite race earning payouts, and each winner taking home R20 000.

“In the open wave, the top three men and women in age categories from junior to 70+ will also be rewarded for their achievements,” Meyer said.

He added that the 5km distance remains a crowd favourite. It is fast-paced yet demands a great deal of endurance and race strategy.

This combination of speed and tactics creates a thrilling contest for elite athletes, and with a substantial prize purse on offer, Meyer and the team are expecting world-class performances and an unforgettable display for spectators.

Sharing Meyer’s excitement, the head of marketing at Boxer Superstores, Lee-Ann Pillay, highlights Boxer Superstores’ ongoing support for South African athletes.

“By offering a prize purse of R147 200, we’re proud to recognise the dedication and determination of South Africa’s elite athletes. We hope this added incentive inspires runners to give their all on race day.

“It’s our way of honouring their passion and commitment while creating a memorable experience for every participant.

“Open and social wave runners, we encourage you to stick around after your run, support the elites, and witness world-class racing in Johannesburg,” Pillay said.
