Interschools B-Circle thrills at Hoërskool Jeugland track finals
The B-Circle met again to decide who's best at tracks.
After a tense and action-packed day of competition at Laerskool Kreft for the field events, schools moved to Hoërskool Jeugland for the track programme on February 11, where the 2026 Interschools B-Circle delivered a thrilling, do-or-die atmosphere.
The participating schools, Laerskool Kreft, Cresslawn Primary School, Chloorkop Primary School, Mooifontein Primary School, Maranatha Christian School, Birch Acres Primary School, Shangri-La Academy and Curro Serengeti Primary School, once again went head-to-head to determine which school would emerge with top athletic honours.
From the U7 to the U13 age groups, boys and girls showcased their talent and determination.
Parents, educators, friends and community members filled the stands, cheering on the young athletes and creating an electric atmosphere.

Among the standout performers was Birch Acres Primary School U13 athlete Gerald Nwankwo, who had set his sights on breaking a record.
“My experience went well, but I wish I had improved my start because I realised that I started really slow,” said Nwankwo.
“My goal coming here was to win and break a record. It’s a great feeling doing it at my sister’s school, and my performance so far shows that I can break the record.”
Curro Serengeti Primary School’s Funanani Mutheiwana also impressed in the U11 boys’ 80m and 100m events.
“My experience is very good today. I had two good races in the 80m and the 100m,” he said. “I know I have to improve my start because I begin a bit slowly, but towards the end I can pick up my speed. My opponents performed well, but I don’t think it was that big of a challenge for me.”

Laerskool Kreft U12 athlete Catherine Makwiting delivered a strong performance, finishing second in the 100m, third in the 150m and first in the relay alongside her teammates.
“My experience was tough and challenging. I tried my best and believe I did the best I could do,” she said.
“I am proud of myself and my performance. It’s not what I hoped for, but I did my absolute best, and that’s what matters to me.”
