Kempton Road Runners Easter event draws 100 athletes for four-day challenge
Runners tackled distances from 8km to 84km in a popular Easter tradition aimed at building endurance for Comrades Marathon 2026.
The Kempton Road Runners’ annual Easter Run once again delivered a memorable weekend of performance, endurance and community spirit, as 100 runners gathered from April 3 to April 6 at Bossa in Glen Acres Shopping Centre for four mornings of running action.
The event welcomed runners of all fitness levels to take part in the club’s long-standing Easter tradition.
Participants had a variety of distance options each day, ranging from 8km to 32km. For those preparing for the Comrades Marathon, the weekend provided an ideal opportunity to accumulate up to 84km over the four days.

The event once again reflected the welcoming spirit of Kempton Road Runners, with several new members joining the club shortly after the weekend.
“Club members and supporters created a lively and uplifting atmosphere each day,” said Reghard Cousins.
Du Plessis said the Easter Run was an exciting experience that allowed him to meet many new running friends, while Botha said it was special to reconnect with fellow club members as they look ahead to Comrades 2026.

“I just love the KRR Easter runs, you can do all the days or just some of them, but whatever you choose, you are running with friends.
“The water points were great, with plenty of cold water, drinks and encouragement. It’s also a great way to burn off some of the Easter calories,” said long-time runner Sam Lange.
Comrades Marathon novice Lana Jonker said she thoroughly enjoyed her Easter Run training experience and would encourage non-runners to give it a try.
Looking ahead, the club is preparing for its next major Comrades build-up run.
