The ANC ward 14 Fun Walk hosted a clean-up and coronavirus awareness campaign at Emfihlweni, Thembisa, on March 21.

Co-founder of Fun walk Glen Semenya said: “It’s been a norm lately for illegal dumping around our community. We, the ANC ward 14 in Emfihlweni, started Fun Walk and took the initiative to clean illegal dumping zones and Esiphethweni Park.
“We thank the Ekurhuleni municipality and Cllr Nomusa Mathebula for their support. Myself and Ouma Chakela championed the whole campaign and ensured that we are equipped with the necessary tools to execute the campaign.
“We feel that it is our collective responsibility as members of the society to come on board and improvise the programmes and infrastructures within our community,” said Semenya.
He furthermore explained that a clean environment encourages good health.
Buddy Ndhlovu, co-founder of Fun Walk, explained that people should take necessary precautions and practice social distancing.
“We also felt it is necessary to hand out conoravirus awareness flyers to educate fellow residents how to take precautions and practice social distancing,” said Ndhlovu.
