He sustained numerous injuries including an open wound to the left arm, a swollen right arm and a swollen right eye.
Kagiso police arrested three female suspects at about 7am on Monday, 15 January, approximately three months after they allegedly attacked and assaulted a complainant in Rietvlei.
It is alleged the suspects approached the complainant on 1 October 2016 at about 10am at his place of residence. The complainant was in his house with a friend that day when one of the suspects stormed in and slapped him in the face. The suspect allegedly manhandled the complainant and later dragged him out of his house to a nearby house.
There were three other female suspects in the second house, one of whom was 54 years old. They accused the complainant of raping four children under the age of 10 and started to assault him with a whip. He sustained numerous injuries, including an open wound to the left arm, a swollen right arm and a swollen right eye. The complainant reported the matter to the police and three of the suspects were arrested.
The suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police station and a case docket of assault was opened against them. They appeared briefly in front of the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court and were released on a warning. They were expected to appear in court the following week.
“Taking the law into your own hands will always land you in trouble with the law,” said Brigadier Sipho Ngubane, station commander at the Kagiso Police station.
“It is never going to be acceptable in the eyes of law.”
