Recognition given to top businesses

Dis-Chem at President Hyper was announced the overall winner at this year's WRCBT Business Achievers Awards.

Dis-Chem at President Hyper walked away as the overall winner at this year’s West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism (WRCBT) Business Achievers Awards at the lavish Usambara on 23 May.

It is an exciting way to honour our business people for their hard work in and around our community as they have an important role.

The awards, which are held annually to recognise and honour entrepreneurs and enterprises, saw 18 businesses from the West Rand that managed to scoop awards.

At the dinner the guests were welcomed by the junior and senior Miss and Mr West Rand and they were entertained by a dancing item performed by the All White Youth Cast.

At the award ceremony the Executive Mayor Calvin Koketso Seerane commented that the awards are a proud moment for entrepreneurs and business people.

“It is an exciting way to honour our business people for their hard work in and around our community as they have an important role.”

He told the attendees that they do not need to feel discouraged if they did not win anything as they are all winners in their own way.

Dennis Pretorius, a representative at the WRCBT who shared the role of emcee with Luan de Beer, an entertainer, said that businesses thrived despite the current economic challenges.
