El Nathan Academy learners donate profits to Belly2Brain NPC

El Nathan Academy learners voted to donate part of their Entrepreneurs Day profits to Belly2Brain NPC, helping fund ingredients for thousands of sandwiches for vulnerable families across the West Rand.

El Nathan Academy learners have shown that running a successful business and giving back to the community can go hand in hand after choosing Belly2Brain NPC as the beneficiary of their Entrepreneurs Day profits.

Founder of Belly2Brain NPC Dominique Tibbles said the funds will be used to purchase ingredients for the organisation’s annual Sandwich Day Event, which provides sandwiches to thousands of children and families across the West Rand.

“Entrepreneurs Day is about more than selling and making a profit. It’s about using what they make to help other people. They chose Belly2Brain because they saw how many people the organisation feeds on Sandwich Day, and they wanted to be part of that,” she said.

Entrepreneurs Day saw learners plan, budget, create and sell products to fellow learners, parents and teachers. The initiative is designed to teach financial literacy, teamwork and creativity from a young age.

This year, the event also highlighted the importance of giving back. After learning about Belly2Brain’s work in the community, the learners voted to donate a share of their profits to the non-profit organisation.

Belly2Brain NPC runs programmes focused on nutrition, mental wellness and family support in Krugersdorp and surrounding areas. Its annual Sandwich Day event brings volunteers together to prepare and distribute sandwiches to learners and vulnerable families who often go without a midday meal.

“When children choose to share what they’ve worked hard for, it teaches all of us what real leadership looks like. The ingredients they will help us buy mean more sandwiches, more full tummies and more hope for families,” Dominique concluded.
