Baby among seven who died in N14 crash
Six adults and one nine-month-old boy died as a result of their injuries.
Seven people sadly lost their lives after two vehicles collided head-on on the N14 between Ventersdorp and Krugersdorp.
ER24 paramedics who arrived at the accident scene say it appears that the crash, which happened before noon on Saturday 28 September, might have occurred as a result of a veld fire in the area causing zero visibility on that stretch of the road.
Vanessa Jackson, ER24 spokesperson says five adults and one nine-month-old boy died as a result of their injuries.
“Sadly no more could be done to save their lives and they were declared dead on the scene.”
Two adults, a man and a woman and a seven-year-old girl travelling in the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and were treated by paramedics.
“The woman was found trapped in the wreckage and she had sustained the most serious injuries of the three. While she was being removed from the wreckage the AER24 medicopter was called to the scene and airlifted her to Life Fourways Hospital in a critical condition,” says Jackson.
“Our latest report is that the woman who was airlifted to Life Fourways hospital had died in hospital as a result of the injuries that she sustained.”
The girl had suffered a broken leg and was transported to Leratong Hospital by ambulance, while the male patient was taken to hospital by ambulance in a stable condition..
Police were at the scene and will conduct all necessary investigations into the cause of this horrific and fatal crash.
