Robbers steal expensive shoes

The suspects hit a man with a firearm bud on the head.

A 20-year-old suspect was arrested on 18 December at about 4.40pm in Kagiso Extension 12 following an armed robbery.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that the complainant was on his way home when two unknown men appeared.

“The suspects, one armed with a firearm, came from behind. The armed suspect allegedly hit the complainant with a firearm bud on the head and demanded cash.”

The complainant’s expensive shoes and some cash were stolen.

“The suspects fled the scene on foot, but the complainant managed to identify one of them. The complainant informed members of the community who started to search for the suspects. One suspect eventually was found.”

He was attacked and assaulted, and was rescued by the arrival of the police.

The police found the suspect bleeding in the street.

“He sustained injuries to his head, face and body,” says Sibiya.

“The suspect was taken to hospital and is now in police custody. His accomplice is still in hiding and a case docket of armed robbery has been opened.”

The suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
