Six people injured during New Year’s Eve shooting

A six-year-old child was among the people who got injured.

The New Year started on a bad note after six people, including a six-year-old got injured in a shooting incident in Munsieville.

Chris Botha, a Netcare 911spokesperson, says the shooting occurred at around 7.30pm on New Year’s Eve 31 December.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they found six people and a child. Two people were in a critical condition while four others sustained serious injuries.

Botha says after the injured were stabilised on scene paramedics airlifted one of the critically wounded to a hospital in Johannesburg while the other patients were transported to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required.

The NEWS contacted Constable Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police Station confirmed the details and said that she will be providing more details to this incident at a later stage.

ENCA reported that five people have since been arrested. Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale says a group of people entered a store and became disruptive whereby the owner called his friend and an altercation ensued.
