Congratulations to the Class of 2013

"Master Push" says congratulations is in order for the matric class of 2013.

The Community Leadership Forum (CLF) Chairperson, Raliphi George Xolelizwe, better known in the community as Master Push congratulates the matric class of 2013.

“It is indeed true that nothing substitutes hard work and focus, and the improved results bear testimony to this,” says Xolelizwe.

In 2012 Mosupatsela Senior Secondary School in Kagiso had a pass rate of 66 per cent when 182 of the 274 Grade 12 pupils passed, making it one of the worst performing schools in the district.

The class of 2013 has a different story to tell as they have achieved a pass rate of 90 per cent, with 155 of the 173 pupils being successful.

While the province ranked third in the country with a 87 per cent pass rate, Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy says it shows that the gap between schools where fees are charged and schools where no fees are charged has narrowed.

Among the province’s 85 122 successful matriculants, 38 104 have met the requirements for Bachelor’s degree studies, 33 716 have met the requirements for diploma studies and 35 903 distinctions were achieved.

“It makes a significant difference to the community,” says Xolelizwe.

“I also extend my gratitude to the school governing body, the teachers, principals, teacher unions and officials for working together.”

He says that he is very proud of all the successful matriculants.

Mosupatsela Senior Secondary School was part of Gauteng’s Secondary School Improvement Programme (SSIP) that offers extra classes for Grade 10 to 12 pupils on Saturdays and during the school holidays to help them to improve their results.
