One out of five suspects appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court on Thursday 9 January facing a charge of attempted murder after a shooting in Munsieville just before the start of the new year.
The suspect, together with four other men, was arrested after a shop shooting in the informal settlement on 31 December.
According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale the remaining four men were released from police custody due to a lack of evidence to link them to the crime.
“The fifth man had his case postponed to 25 January when he will apply for bail,” she says.
The incident, that was initially reported to have left six people injured, according to Mashale ended up to have nine injured victims.
According to paramedics at the time two people were left in a critical condition.
“After the injured were stabilised on scene paramedics airlifted one of the critically wounded to a hospital in Johannesburg while other patients were transported to various hospitals in the area for the care they required,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said at the time.
