Offender accused of exposing himself to school girls pleads

A sexual offender who among other charges stands accused of exposing himself to underage girls in the Roodepoort and Krugersdorp areas appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Monday 27 January.

Nine charges pertaining to the Sexual Amendment Act were laid before the accused after which he was asked to deliver his plea.

The accused took the stand indicating that he pleaded not guilty to all the charges mentioned.

Members of the public were refused to sit in on proceedings as the court called forward a group of underage witnesses to testify in camera.

Monday was the first of two days during which the court would hear alleged victims’ testimonies before a possible verdict could be rendered.

The offender first appeared in court after being arrested at his workplace in Kenmare in April 2013.

He was taken into police custody after allegedly offering a 17-year-old pupil from Hoërskool Bastion R200 to perform oral sex on him.

The NEWS later reported that five additional charges were laid against the accused after which he admitted in court to “getting unusual sexual urges”.

The trial continues.
