Dog-napper threatens reporter
He warned that he would cut up people and mail their remains to their families.
A reporter from the NEWS was threatened and warned to watch her back following a report on a dog that allegedly was kidnapped in the Muldersdrift area and kept for ransom.
The NEWS reported that a man who goes by the name of Justin threatened to shoot a six-year-old Dachshund if its owners did not comply with his demands for money.
When approached for his comment on the matter the man in question broke out in fury and stated that he had grown sick and tired of threats from the community following the NEWS report on the case.
He claimed that he had thrown the dog over a fence at the Krugersdorp SPCA in Delporton and said that people who approach him about the dog would carry the consequences.
He warned that he “would come to the Krugersdorp NEWS newsroom and show everybody a thing”. He threatened to take legal action as well.
In a recorded telephone call he stated by using foul language that he “would cut up people who approach him about the matter and mail their remains to their families”.
He recalled an event during which he claimed to have assaulted an elderly woman from Kimberley saying “punched her in the face and took out all of her teeth”.
“I left a note reading – I warned you,” he said.
Through investigations the NEWS confirmed the man’s real name, as the alias “Justin” proved to be a cover-up.
The NEWS also contacted the local SPCA only to find that they had no record of the dog.
The reporter involved has opened a case of intimidation at the Roodepoort SAPS and it is currently under investigation.
In the meanwhile owner of the dog Britny Crofford is still on the lookout for her six-year-old black and tan Dachshund named Ducky.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact Britny on 082 560 1826.
