The Kagiso police arrested a 28-year-old man from Swanieville on 5 February for assault and rape.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says it is alleged that the complainant was at his friend’s place when the suspect joined them.
“He told them he was going to fetch money to buy beer. The suspect then went to his place and fetched the money, after which they all went to a shebeen in the Mayibuye section.”
At about 9pm all three left the shebeen and went to the suspect’s place.
“The complainant later wanted to leave her friend and the suspect, but the suspect became angry and assaulted her. The suspect eventually raped the complainant and her friend, but the friend refused to open a case against the suspect,” says Sibiya.
The complainant reported the matter at the Kagiso Police Station and the suspect was traced and arrested.
He has appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court for charges of rape and assault.
