Drug clean-up operation in Sivewright

A drug operation resulted in four arrests and the confiscation of numerous drugs.

Two foreign nationals were among four people who were arrested following a drug clean-up operation in Sivewright Street on 9 February.

Members from the Krugersdorp Cluster Drug Task Team and South African Police Reservists swooped down on Sivewright Street in Krugersdorp from 6am to 2pm.

Captain Appel Ernst, a police spokesperson says that the police managed to confiscate drugs such as heroine, Cat, rocks and crystal meth, which are estimated to have a street value of R5 000.

“The four suspects, aged between 22 and 32, were found in possession of drugs and they were arrested.”

Ernst says that two of the suspects are foreign nationals.

The suspects appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10 February on charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.

“None of the police stations in the Krugersdorp Cluster will back down in their efforts to rid the streets in the Cluster of drug dealers. The members are commended for bringing the culprits to book and their diligence and dedication are applauded,” concludes Ernst.
