Video: Man exposes himself to old age home residents

Shocking video footage reveals how a sexual offender strikes at an old age home.

Exactly a week after the NEWS had reported on a break-in at a Krugersdorp old age home during which a man exposed himself to elderly residents, the offender returned.

On Saturday 8 February the offender made his appearance for the first time and the incident was swept under a rather media-proof rug, but the NEWS suggested to the Krugersdorp police to do an in-depth investigation and with solid statements and proof, the incident was uncovered.

By the time the offender struck for a second time on Saturday 15 February the NEWS had monitored events at the home and managed to obtain CCTV footage of his second call.

The footage revealed how the man, first labelled a burglar, intended to do much more – elderly residents’ privacy was invaded by a sexual offender.

Footage shows how the man takes off his trousers, pulls an elderly woman’s duvet from her and forces her to look at him while standing next to her bed.

On the same night he gets into another resident’s bed, then emerges from underneath the covers and leaves while pulling up his trousers.

Most concerning was the fact that the suspect managed to dodge a security guard just to return through an open window to strike again on the same night.

The suspect managed to escape unnoticed after the first incident on 8 February and did the same on 15 February (or so he thought) and remains at large.

The local police was asked about their strategy to ensure the safety of the elderly residents. Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale gave the assurance that patrols in the area would be increased.

As for safety measures taken by the old age home, management informed the NEWS that locks have been changed and more security guards have been deployed.

Management chose to exercise their right not to comment on the matter.
