Decomposed body found in veld: police suspects foul play

The woman was last seen leaving for work days before her body was found in an open veld.

Days after a Munsieville woman was reported missing a passer-by found her body in an open veld at the corner of Moorcroft Road and Robert Broom Drive in Krugersdorp West on 25 February.

According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale the deceased was seen leaving her rented home in Munsieville on Tuesday morning 18 February, but never arrived at work.

“It was the last time she was seen alive,” says Mashale.

Police received a call on Tuesday 25 February at approximately 6pm from a resident claiming that he has came across the body of a woman.

Police could not track down the caller since the report.

“Officers proceeded to investigate and found the decomposed body of a 47-year-old woman that was later identified by her landlord as the missing person,” says Mashale.

According to Mashale police has reason to believe that the woman had been murdered and will continue to investigate.

Krugersdorp Police are urging residents who might have any more information pertaining to the possible murder to come forth.

“We are in particular calling on the person that discovered the body to come forward to assist with the investigation,” says Mashale.
