Four men appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 March after the Hawks pounced on a drug lab in Lanseria.
According to Hawks spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko the four suspects were arrested on Thursday 13 March for allegedly producing mandrax tablets at a drug laboratory on a farm in the area.
He stated that the laboratory could be linked to a bigger drug syndicate and that the police hopes that more arrests will follow.
“Two of the suspects are South Africans, while the other two are from Malawi,” says Ramaloko.
The Hawks confiscated drugs and drug-manufacturing chemicals and machinery to the street value of R3 million.
The suspects face possible charges of dealing in and manufacturing drugs.
