
A man (36) was arrested by the Kagiso Police for allegedly attempting to murder his grandfather.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson says that on 22 March, while they were patrolling the area, the police received a complaint from a community member about a severe stabbing incident.
“The police proceeded to the identified address where they found tenants helplessly standing around a seriously injured man.”
The wounded 71-year-old was lying on the ground bleeding profusely from stab wounds that allegedly were inflicted by his grandson.
“He was rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition. The police started searching for the suspect around the area and arrested him a few minutes later. He was detained at the Kagiso Police Station,” says Sibiya.
The motive for the fight and subsequent stabbing is unknown.
Sibiya says that a case docket of attempted murder was opened at the Kagiso Police Station against the suspect and that the suspect has appeared briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on 24 March.
