A 49-year old woman from Makhulugama informal settlement west of Krugersdorp appeared in court on Monday 17 March after being arrested in connection with the murder of her husband the day before.
According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale police rushed to the scene on Sunday 16 March after a resident from the settlement reported a murder at approximately 5.15am.
“The resident explained to police that a man had been murdered and that he was lying in a pool of blood on his bedroom floor,” says Mashale.
“Upon their arrival on the scene police questioned an alleged eyewitness to the crime who claimed that the deceased was stabbed by his wife following an altercation between the two.
“It is alleged that the couple had fought over allegations of infidelity that led to the husband becoming violent.
“The wife claimed that her husband assaulted her by punching her in the face. She mentioned in a statement that she became infuriated and stabbed him,” says Mashale.
Police received information that the wife had fled to the house of a family member close by and proceeded to arrest her soon afterwards.
The case was postponed until further notice.
