Two police officers sustain serious bullet wounds
When the police officers started searching three suspects, one opened fire and wounded them seriously.
A case of attempted murder has been opened at the Krugersdorp Police Station after two police officers were injured seriously in a shooting incident in Luipaardsvlei yesterday 1 April.
Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, a police spokesperson says at about 10.30pm the officers saw a stationary bakkie next to the road at the corner of Grey Street and Albertina Sisulu Road.
“Next to the vehicle were three males. When the police officers started searching them, one opened fire and wounded them seriously.”
She says that the police immediately reacted by shooting back at the suspects.
“The officers sustained serious bullet wounds and were admitted to the Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital.”
Mashale says that the suspects fled the scene in a Nissan NP200 bakkie of which the registration number is unknown.
