House robber busted

Just 23 days after a suspected house robber stole goods at the doctors' quarters at Leratong Hospital he was caught by police.

The Kagiso Police arrested a 31-year-old suspect in the Zulu Jump informal settlement in Kagiso on 3 April in connection with a residential burglary that took place at the doctors’ quarters at Leratong Hospital.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson says that the complainant allegedly was asleep in her room on 11 March when at 3.17am she heard a strange noise in her room.

“She was shocked to find an unknown man inside her room. The suspect wielded a knife and ordered her to lie down, demanding cash and valuables.”

The suspect stole cash, a Netbook, a Toshiba hard drive, an HP DVD writer, Vodacom modem, a gold Guess wristwatch, two cellphones and her motor vehicle keys.

“Through police investigations and information from members of the public, the suspect was traced and arrested,” says Sibiya.

A case docket of house robbery was opened and the suspect will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court today 7 April.
