New building for bustling church
Congregation members grew from six to almost 300 people.
The Muldersdrift Union Church had its beginnings more than 40 years ago when a group of Christians in the Muldersdrift area banded together to form a church with an interdenominational character.
It is said that the church started off with six congregation members but since has grown so much in numbers that a new church had to built.
The church with its small group of people gathering in a building on the Muldersdrift Moths (Memorable Order of the Tin Hats) property eventually moved to 1,3 hectares of land in Annie Street in Muldersdrift where they built their new church that seats up to 300 people.
After three years of construction the church officially opened its doors with a special service on 12 April.
From January 2007, Dr Kevin Roy has been the pastor of this fast-growing church and has become a well-known name in Muldersdrift.
His line of work led him to South Africa a number of years ago where he, in recent times, spent six years of pastoral ministry in Wilro Park in Roodepoort, followed by three years as a lecturer at Unisa and one year as the pastor of Emmaus Baptist Church in Centurion.
He then accepted a call to the Cape Town Baptist Seminary where he spent 17 years before accepting the call to the Muldersdrift Union Church.
