Goods worth over R80 000 were recovered on the East Rand after it was stolen at a smallholding in Nooitgedacht in Muldersdrift.
The two suspects, an employee and an accomplice aged 23 and 24 respectively, appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of business robbery, possession of suspected stolen property and attempted murder.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, a police spokesperson says the suspects were arrested by the Muldersdrift Police in Thembisa and Spruitview respectively.
It is alleged that a group of unknown suspects attacked a security guard at Plot 189 during the night.
Dlamini says that the man was hit on the head with a hammer and lost consciousness.
“He regained consciousness the next morning and the neighbours called an ambulance that took him to hospital.”
Dlamini says that the police worked around the clock to trace the suspects and it is believed that several other suspects are still at large.
“Police are confident that they will be caught very soon.”
During the arrests, police recovered welding machines, a flat screen television, computers and speakers, a DVD player and amplifiers.
The suspects are still being profiled as they are suspected to have committed other serious crimes.
