EPR reaction officer Victor Cilliers saved the day after apprehending an armed man following a shooting in Boshoff Street in the Krugersdorp CBD. The incident happened on Monday 5 May.
According to the EPR operations manager Mac van Zyl the suspect turned the gun on Cilliers after firing at a man walking in the street .
“The armed man shot at Cilliers and then attempted to run away. Cilliers however stayed hot on his heels, caught up with him, cuffed him and held onto him until police officers arrived at the scene.”
Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale says officers arrived and arrested the 49-year-old for possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder.
He is being detained at the Krugersdorp Police Station and he will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
