Alleged underworld criminal caught

The Hawks arrested a man in Krugersdorp who is sought by the police for various serious offences.

The Hawks, the police’s anti-corruption unit, swooped down on an alleged criminal underworld suspect.

Jack Watts Cloete (42) who is wanted by the police for a series of crime-related incidents was arrested in the Krugersdorp area last Thursday (22 May).

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale, a police spokesperson says the suspect appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court the next day before he was remanded in custody.

“Detectives in this matter will consult with the National Prosecuting Authority to have Cloete’s cases centralised,” says Makgale.

He is expected to appear in the Bothasig Magistrates’ Court in Cape Town on Thursday 28 May.

Cloete was being sought in connection with the following cases:

• Bothasig – Dealing in narcotics (warrant of arrest issued)

• Boksburg – Conspiracy to commit murder or attempted murder (wanted for questioning)

• Table View – Dealing in drugs

• Sea Point – Dealing in narcotics

• Hartbeespoort – Theft

• Hartbeespoort – Assault with the intent to inflict grievous bodily harm (warrant of arrest issued)

• Hartbeespoort – Malicious damage to property (warrant of arrest issued)

• Sea Point – Dealing in narcotics (warrant of arrest issued)
