Fake buyers rob homeowners

Two men posing as potential investors in property are roaming the Krugersdorp area.

Homeowners advertising their property in the Krugersdorp area are the latest victims of crime, warns Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale.

Mashale explains the modus operandi of two men pretending to be buyers interested in buying or letting houses, who end up stealing valuables from the owners.

“The two men only target houses with signs outside stating that the owner wants to let or sell the home,” she says.

“They will knock on the door or ask for access to the house via an intercom, pretending to be interested in the house. After gaining access one of the men would browse around the home with the owner while the second man steals valuable items in other parts of the house,” she says.

According to Mashale the men are well-dressed and travel in a silver Chevrolet Avio, registration ZNY 385 GP.

Anyone with more information pertaining to the two men or their whereabouts is urged to contact the Krugersdorp Police Station on 011 951 1111.
