Five arrested for possession of house-breaking implements

Alleged housebreakers were arrested in Kagiso.

Kagiso Police members received information from the community about a gang of five men allegedly abusing drugs and breaking into houses in the area.

“Informers also provided police with an address where the men were said to meet when planning their criminal activities,” says Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale.

“The information assisted police to launch an investigation immediately,” she adds.

“Arriving at the address – an abandoned building – police caught five suspects in the act of abusing illegal substances,” she says.

The suspects were found with house-breaking implements such as gloves, crowbars, screwdrivers and chisels.

The men between the age of 20 and 30 years were charged with possession of and dealing in drugs, and are being detained at the Kagiso Police Station.

Mashale encourages the community of Krugersdorp and surrounds to tip off police about criminal activity in their area.

“It is our duty to create a safe environment for all,” she says.
