Police busts four house robbers

The complainant was in her bedroom when the four unknown men suddenly appeared.

The Kagiso Police Station apprehended four suspects aged between 20 and 28 for allegedly breaking into a house in Azaadville.

Police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya says the complainant was in her bedroom when the four unknown men suddenly appeared.

He says the suspects, two armed with knives, entered the house and ordered her domestic worker to take them to the main bedroom where they held her, the complainant and her husband at knife point and demanded cash.

“The suspects also took jewellery, two Samsung cellphones, a Nokia, an iPad, a BlackBerry smartphone and assorted perfumes,” says Sibiya.

“The suspects used the complainants’ vehicle to flee the scene of the crime and later abandoned it.”

Sibiya says no one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

“The police launched a manhunt, which led to the arrest of four suspects three days later.”

All four suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police Station before appearing in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on a charge of house robbery.
