The man was found hiding in a hole under a bridge.

A Hekpoort man currently is doing community service after he was found guilty on two separate charges of theft.

According to Hekpoort Police spokesperson Gloria Maswanganye the man was arrested shortly after a second attempted theft on Monday (14 July).

“Police received a tip-off that a man was in possession of stolen property and information of his whereabouts were given,” she says.

“As police made their way to a bridge on Bloudyk Street in the Hekpoort area, they found the 24-year-old man hiding in a hole,” she says.

Three stolen tyres, three rims and stolen copper cables were found in his possession.

He was arrested and handed a sentence of community service by the court.
