The Kagiso Police managed to arrest several suspects during a special operation recently.
Kagiso Police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya says two suspects aged 25 and 44 were arrested for being in possession of a hijacked truck.
“The police were busy conducting a special operation when they received information over the two-way radio that two suspects had just hijacked a truck in Krugersdorp. A description of the suspects was given and police were told that the truck allegedly was in Rietvallei.”
He says the police noticed one of the suspects fitting the description while he was walking in an open space in Rietvallei.
“The suspects allegedly had abandoned the hijacked truck and fled in different directions after noticing the police helicopter. The suspect was arrested and he later pointed out his accomplice who subsequently also was arrested.”
Both suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of possession of a suspected hijacked truck was registered.
They made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody while police investigations continue.
