Armed suspects flee with money and a DVD-player

Within few minutes of an intensive police search one of the suspects was arrested.

Kagiso Police recently arrested a 30-year-old man in Rietvallei for house robbery and rape.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya says the complainant was at home when four armed men forced entry into his home.

The suspects, armed with a firearm, steel pipe and a knife, demanded cash.

“An amount of R420 and a DVD player were stolen during the robbery and the complainant’s wife allegedly was raped.”

The matter was reported to police officers who were conducting special operations in and around Kagiso.

“They responded quickly and started searching for the four suspects. Within a few minutes of an intensive police search one suspect was traced and arrested.”

Three other suspects are still on the run.

The arrested suspect made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court today (5 August) and was remanded in custody for further police investigation.
