Follow their example and recycle
President Hyper believes that one needs to look after the environment and the best way to help make a difference is by recycling.
Be the change in your community and recycle.
With this message Sharon Govender and Tony da Silva (general manager) of President Hyper in Krugersdorp hope its thousands of loyal customers will continue supporting their recycling initiative.
Da Silva says since its inception two years ago they have had many customers supporting their recycling project by using the eight multi-coloured recycle bins outside the shop for this purpose.
“The community embraced it. Some even bring their children to show them how to recycle their household waste.”
Binclean SA, a company that specialises in recycling and waste collections have been contracted to remove the recyclables from the various bins on a regular basis.
“They also are responsible for removing our own waste and recyclables from the shop,” says Da Silva.
President Hyper, he says, have been involved in recycling since day one and have employees who sort out the different recyclables on a daily basis.
“It is the right thing to do. We need to keep our planet clean and also need to lead by example so that the community can follow.”
Da Silva says it is very easy for their customers to recycle as they can drop off their recyclable waste before doing their shopping.
“Our bins are very easy to spot in front of our store.”
The community can bring recyclable material such as glass, plastics, light bulbs, tin cans, paper, batteries and printer ink cartridges.
President Hyper offers these five reasons why one should recycle:
• Recycling saves energy – the manufacturer does not have to produce something from scratch and in the process use our precious natural resources. By using recycled materials we save energy, which will keep production costs to a minimum.
• Recycling is good for the economy – recycling and buying recycled products create a bigger demand for recycled goods.
• Recycling helps our climate problems – when we recycle, a lot less carbon is produced. This in turn will reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.
• Recycling reduces waste products in landfills – landfills mostly contain non-biodegradable waste that takes longer to decompose. By recycling we reduce the amount of waste materials making its way onto the landfills, making the most of these materials.
• Recycling preserves our resources and protects our wildlife – by recycling, we reduce the need to destroy natural habitats.
What better reasons do we need? By doing a little every day all of us can make a huge difference.
