Church celebrates 10 years in community
The congregation of the church came together to praise their Saviour and joyously celebrate their 10th birthday.
Ten years ago the congregation of the Mount Faith Presbyterian obtained permission from the local council to build their dream church.
However, the challenge was big. They needed to raise R2,1 million for the project. Initially they thought that by selling the church premises in town they would be able to start with the construction of the new church, but no one wanted to buy it.
Alas their faith was rewarded and money became available.
Through dedication, hard work and determination, the church had their first service on 8 August 2004 and later for the consecration on 14 October 2004 the church was packed.
Over the 10 years the church had four ministers namely Reverends Dr Michael Moore, Roy Wilson, Michael Hershensohnn and presently Reverend Vusi Mkhungo.
On Saturday 2 August the congregation of the church came together to praise their Saviour and joyously celebrate their 10th birthday.
Vusi and his wife Malindi, together with key role players within the church planned a festive programme for all who attended the celebrations.
Malindi and Bonnie Opel sang some lovely songs while the choir of the Dayspring School lit up the church with their beautiful harmonies and singing of traditional hymns.
After the celebrations church members, friends and family gathered for a hearty lunch and reminisced about the last 10 years and how they became a pillar within the Noordheuwel community.
