Hundreds of medical experts gather in Muldersdrift
Experts in various medical fields gathered to discuss the latest development in the science of medicine.
Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital hosted a continuing professional development (CPD) workshop. It was attended by over 250 healthcare professionals from across the country.
Experts in attendance included medical specialists, general practitioners and allied healthcare practitioners such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
The event not only was attended by healthcare professionals from Netcare facilities but also by others from the private and public sector.
“Netcare is committed to ensuring that our healthcare professionals remain at the forefront of new medical developments so that we continually improve patient outcomes.
We believe it is important that our valued doctors, specialists and nursing staff are given every opportunity to learn from, and interact with respected experts in various medical fields so that they continue to offer quality care to our patients,” says Motlalentoa Motsoane, hospital general manager at Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital.
Some of the topics discussed at the CPD session included developments in orthopaedics, gynaecology and pathology.
The highlight of the two days was a focus on ethical issues affecting healthcare professionals, as well as the imminent legislation known as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), which was presented by the Netcare group’s company secretary and head of the legal department, Lynelle Bagwandeen.
“This CPD workshop not only was an opportunity for healthcare professionals to earn CPD points but also to network with colleagues and specialists who are passionate about their various fields,” concludes Motsoane.
