Support shown to WRAPD

A fun run/walk was held at Correctional Services to show support to persons with disabilities.

The Krugersdorp Correctional Services and several stakeholders got together on Casual Day to show their support for people with disabilities.

Linda de Klerk, communication officer says about 200 people from the private sector and government and municipal departments joined them in their fun run/ walk from Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse in Randfontein to the Correctional Services’ sport grounds.

“To celebrate Casual Day’s 20th year of existence we decided to get together as the West Rand community to show that we care.”

She says all the proceeds from the stickers that were sold will go towards the West Rand Association for Persons with Disabilities (WRAPD), who spent the day with them.

There were various sporting activities such as aerobics, soccer, volleyball, netball and handball for the members who participated in the event.

In a wheelchair race able-bodied participants competed against some members of the WRAPD with disabilities.

De Klerk says she would like to thank everyone who made the day a huge success.
