Workshop on trauma of addiction on the home front
The workshop focuses on aspects of addiction, facing the crisis, changes that need to be made, making choices, clean living and getting closure.
Substance abuse not only rips apart homes and families, it affects family members in a very traumatic way.
It violates trust, the family network, finances and wreaks havoc with relationships. The trauma it causes hardly ever ends well and very few families make it out of this war zone intact.
SOS West Rand is a support group that helps families with advice and knowledge to deal with this type of circumstances in an appropriate manner.
Many years of experience in dealing with it on a personal level as well as assisting other families contributed to SOS councillors having found ways that work and ways that don’t work when dealing with addiction.
A workshop over seven sessions on dealing with substance abuse is earmarked for Monday evenings from 20 October to 1 December at the Symphony AFM church in Witpoortjie.
The workshop focuses on aspects of addiction, facing the crisis, changes that need to be made, making choices, clean living and getting closure.
The R300 per family cost for the seven sessions includes a workbook and refreshments. Please note that these workshops are focused on families of addicts and not addicts themselves. Other support systems are in place for addicts, such as one-on-one counselling sessions.
Bookings can be made by emailing info@sosministries.co.za or call Patricia Burger on 082 899 6129.
