Suspects busted for assault and robbery

Another nine suspects are wanted by police.

Four suspects aged between 18 and 20 were arrested in Swanieville for allegedly assaulting and robbing a complainant of his cellphone.

Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson says the complainant was on his way home from a tavern when he was confronted by a group of men, four of them known to him.

“They surrounded the complainant and two of them hit him with bricks on the upper body and also used their fists to hit him in the face. The complainant surrendered and the two suspects searched him and robbed him of his cellphone.” They left him next to the road.

“The complainant allegedly managed to identify some of the suspects and he reported the matter to the police who started searching for the 13 suspects,” says Sibiya.

The suspects have been on the run for over two weeks but four of them were cornered and arrested by police.

The other nine suspects are wanted by the police. The four who were arrested are being detained and a case docket of assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm and common robbery has been opened at the Kagiso Police Station. The suspects will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
